James M. Hamilton of Lincoln, former Cozad resident, passed away May 6, 2017 in Lincoln, surrounded by his family, at the age of 75. Jim was born February 7, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Earl and Helen (Lowe) Hamilton. He married Virginia (Ginny) Fasse on May 28, 1962. Jim graduated from Cozad High School in 1959. After high school graduation, Jim worked for Fasse Farm and Ranch. Later taking a job at Monroe Auto in Cozad, Nebraska. He and his family moved to Kearney, Nebraska, and he attended Kearney State College. While attending Kearney State College, he began his career in transportation with Yellow Freight Systems in Kearney. Later transferring to Overland Park, Kansas in 1987. During this time, he worked at Yellow Freight Systems in Lenexa, Kansas as a terminal Manager, then at the Break-Bulk Center in Kansas City, Missouri. After wanting to move back to be closer to his daughter’s, they moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1996 where he retired as the terminal manager in Lincoln in 2008. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends at their cabin on Midway Lake near Cozad. He survived by his wife, Ginny of Lincoln; daughters, Kim (Ken) Spellman and Nicole (Hamilton) Berke; grandchildren, Austin (Jamie) Spellman and Dylan Spellman; great grandchildren, Zoey and Emma Spellman all of Omaha, NE; brother, Robert (Joeann) Hamilton of Genoa, NE; sister, Cecelia Hamilton of Genoa, NE; in-laws, Jim and Diann (Fasse) Adle of Cozad, Judy (Fasse) Moore of Portland, OR, Janel (Fasse) Halligan of Cozad, Karen Fasse of Pueblo, CO; brother-in-law, Bruce Nelsen of Cozad; many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Helen Hamilton; infant sister; his father-in-law and mother in-law, Adolph and Ruth Fasse and sister-in-law, Karma Nelsen. He will be missed by many. Services will be Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad. Visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
