Darlene E. Jensen, age 88, of Cozad passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Bethany Home in Minden, NE. Darlene was born on June 20, 1928 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to John and Lena (Eckhoff) Franzen. She grew up on their family farm North of Gothenburg and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1945. On October 26, 1947, she married Herman Jobman, after one year of marriage Herman became ill and passed away on January 3, 1949. On March 14, 1954, Darlene married George K. Jensen at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Cozad and to this union four children were born; Monte, Lane, Jana, and Becky. Darlene was an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She served and loved her church family well. Darlene enjoyed her years as a Northwestern Bell telephone operator and later as an employee of the Cozad Hospital. Darlene loved to be busy and enjoyed playing cards, socializing, chatting on the phone, and cheering on the Haymakers in all sports. Darlene loved her community. Darlene’s greatest JOY was her family. Her children, grand children, and great grands all knew that Grandma “D” would always be there. She followed every event possible. Holidays on 14th Street were exceptional! Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 63 years, George Jensen of Minden; Son, Monte (Deb) Jensen of Parker, CO, Son, Lane (Bonnie) Jensen of Parker, CO, Daughter, Jana (Andy) Tomsen of Minden, NE, Daughter, Becky Schafer of Greenville, SC; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a brother, Glenn (Gloria) Franzen of Cozad, NE. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and two brothers and their wives, Vernon and Ruth Franzen and Reakus and Genevieve Franzen. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to American Lutheran Church in Cozad and Bethany Home in Minden. Services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 8 with family present from 5:30 to 7:00 at Berryman Funeral Home.
