LeRoy H. 'Buckwheat' Brugger of Cozad passed away August 25, 2017 at Kearney Regional Medical Center at the age of 65. LeRoy was born June 29, 1952 at Lexington, Nebraska to C. Earl and Pauline (Patterson) Brugger. He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1970 and attended college at Hastings Tech. He married Rosemarie A Kush on September 8, 1979 at Lexington, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with one son, Jamison. LeRoy was a mechanic for many years but spent most of his time trucking for numerous companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. LeRoy cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was a foster parent for several years and loved dressing up as Santa. LeRoy always had a story to tell and never knew a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son Jamison Brugger and wife Colene of Cozad; sister Zola Branting and husband Gary of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Seth Timmons of Cozad, Thomas Timmons of Broken Bow and Derek Janssen of Elm Creek; great grandchildren, Zoey Schulte of Grand Island; niece Susan Bluel and husband Jarrod of Kearney; nephew Eric Maack of Kearney; numerous foster sons; and many extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church with Kathy Gundell, PMA officiating. Cremation was chosen. Inurnment will be at Cozad Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Wednesday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
