Ivan L. Snider, 90, of Alma, formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away October 20, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Colonial Villa. He was born July 28, 1927 to Ivan M. and Violet (Russell) Snider at Kearney. He attended school at Lisco, NE and North Port, NE. On Nov. 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Arnold at Grand Island. Ivan served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was employed by various places including, the Sale Barn in Cambridge, Furnas County, Werners Road Construction and New Holland. Ivan was a self-employed horse trader. He loved to break horses to ride and drive, help neighbors and friends with all their veterinarian needs, tell jokes and do rope tricks. He enjoyed making furniture out of horse shoes, refinishing furniture and making ropes. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis; daughters, Mary (John) Weeder; Monie Burns all of Alma, Jody Audet of Castle Rock, CO and Vickie (Tim) Chapman of Edison; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Betty Snider of Kearney, Donna Arnold of Sun City West, AZ and Ruth (Darrell) Gregg of Bertrand; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion “Snide” and Clayton Snider; sister, Betty Atterberry; a son, Ivan “Ike” Snider and an infant son, Todd. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Lakeside Fellowship in Alma with Pastor Michael Bell officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends at the church. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Kearney Cemetery with military honors.
