Dorothy M. Johnson of Cozad passed away February 27, 2018 at Cozad Care Center at the age of 88. Dorothy was born March 29, 1929 in Lexington, Nebraska to Emil and Bertha (Fritz) Heller. She grew up near Midway Lake and attended country school at District 69. In 1953, Dorothy married George Johnson at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She was a devoted wife and mother, raising their 3 daughters and working along side George, ranching and tending the crops. Dorothy enjoyed painting, leather work and crafts. She loved gardening and was an avid horseman. Dorothy was a member of the American Lutheran Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-laws, John Vance and Gregg Hecox; and infant great grandson, Tristan Vance-Lacy. Survivors include her husband, George of Cozad; daughters, Linda Arnold and husband Ron of Papillion, Margaret Vance of Kearney and Norma Hecox of Kearney; grandchildren, Keri Quintanilla and husband Efrain of Papillion, Scott Arnold and wife Amy of Lincoln, Stacie Burnett and husband Jon of Kearney, Kylie Vance of Kearney, Heather Hecox of Kearney; great grandchildren, Nickolas, Gavin and Nolan Quintanilla of Papillion, Ruby, Eva and Cade Arnold of Lincoln, Uriah Vance-Lacy and Weston Burnett, both of Kearney; 2 brother-in-laws; 3 sister-in-laws; 3 cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. Visitation will be Thursday March 8, 2018 from 1 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
