Annie Ellen Brooks

Annie Ellen Brooks of Yuma, Arizona past away Monday, February 7, 2022 after a long battle of COPD. She was born Annie Barnette on June 27, 1947 in Warsaw, North Carolina. She had been the loving wife of David Brooks for 56 years, including the first 23 years as a Navy spouse. Annie found great joy in being a loving home maker, mother and grandmother. She loved to entertain friends, family and always had another seat available at her table for one more. She loved baking and teaching others to cook her family recipes. She enjoyed spending time on the golf course, in the casino or playing poker with her family. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jo Shannon, her son Shane, Mother, Zilpha Eliza Eason Barnette, and her father, Joe Raymond Barnette. Surviving family members include her husband David, daughter Becky (Mark) Vilums, grandson Luke and granddaughter Lydia. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Gahn officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home prior to the service.
