Ardith A. Marshall

Ardith A. Marshall went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2020 at Emerald Care and Rehab Center in Cozad at the age of 79. Ardith Ann Ballmer was born April 1, 1940 in Cozad to Art and Dorothy (Ristine) Ballmer. She went to Cozad City Schools and graduated from Cozad High School in 1958. Ardy married Robert Arlen Marshall on March 8, 1959 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Cozad. After their wedding, Bob and Ardy moved north of Cozad where they farmed for two years before moving back into town. Ardy worked at First National Bank prior to being blessed with three children, Diane, Sue and Mike. After raising her children, Ardy returned to work at Cozad City Schools as an accompanist and para-educator. She enjoyed playing the piano and helping with musical programs. She was the librarian at Central Elementary School and helped in the school lunchroom. Ardy was an avid follower of her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and sports, and an active supporter of Cozad school activities. Ardy and Bob learned to golf together and grew to love the sport. Ardy was a member of NAWGA, Cozad Country Club and the Women’s Golf League. Ardy had the distinction of making four holes in one in Cozad on three different holes. Ardy and Bob enjoyed playing in couples tournaments with many dear friends and family. They played at over 150 courses over the years across the United States. Ardy was a lifelong member of Evangelical United Brethren Church, which later became Parkview United Methodist Church and then Cozad United Methodist Church. Ardy played the organ and piano for church, sang in choir, lead the church choir, taught Sunday school and VBS and was active in women’s society. Ardy was a member of P.E.O. Chapter IB, where she served as Chaplain. Ardy loved her flowers, yard work and baking. She cherished her time spent with friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Ardy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dale Ballmer. Survivors include her husband, Bob; children, Diane (Jerry) Scott of Broken Bow; Sue (Colin) Uerling of Gunnison, CO; and Mike of Cozad; grandchildren, Nikki Scott and Jake McGlade of Lincoln; Noel and Ellen Scott of Omaha; Nathan Scott of Broken Bow and Erica Uerling of Gunnison, CO; and great granddaughter, Dylan Scott McGlade of Lincoln, NE. Private family graveside service will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at Cozad Cemetery. Public visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Berryman Funeral Home. Current CDC guidelines will be observed during this time, please refer to berrymanfuneralhome.com for information. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation.
