Bonnie J Hansen

Bonnie J. Hansen, age 65 of Cozad, passed away May 8, 2018 at The Cozad Hospital in Cozad, Nebraska. Bonnie was born July 9, 1952 in Wray, Colorado to Alfred and Mary (Darby) Stute. She attended school in Haigler, Nebraska, where she was active in 4-H, cheerleading, sports, and was the homecoming queen. Bonnie attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she majored in Home Economics Education and graduated in 1974. She taught high school Home Economics in Oshkosh, Nebraska for 2 years before moving to Cozad. On August 6, 1977 Bonnie married Tim Hansen in Cozad, Nebraska. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Christina and Andrea. The couple lived in Cozad. Bonnie taught Family and Consumer Sciences at Cozad High School for 39 years. She obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1998. She was the pep club, cheer, and FCCLA sponsor for many years. Known as “Bon-Bon” to them, her FCCLA Pink Ladies always held an extra special place in her heart. She loved to quilt, bake, and take care of others. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and loved being a nanny for the Cozad Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mary Stute and her brother, Royce Stute. Bonnie is lovingly survived by her husband, Tim Hansen of Cozad; her children, Christina Hansen of Denver, Colorado, Andrea (Edem) Lotsu of Houston, Texas, sisters, Alfreda Schroeder of Aurora, Colorado and Kathryn (Russ) Edeal of Loomis, Nebraska; Sister-in-law, Marsha Stute of Littleton, Colorado and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The Bonnie Hansen Memorial has been established for those wishing to contribute. The family will direct the funds toward Bonnie’s favorite areas of interest which include the Cozad Hospital Nanny program, Relay for Life, and FCCLA projects. Funds can be sent to Tim Hansen or to the online memorial that has been set up at: www.venmo.com/Bonnie-HansenMemorial A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Vicar Kathy Gundell officiating. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 4 to 7 at Berryman Funeral Home.
