Bonnie J. Rinehart of Cozad passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 88. Bonnie was born July 25, 1931 in North Platte, Nebraska to Elden and Ruby (Callahan) Price. She attended school in North Platte, Darr and Cozad. On August 8, 1948, Bonnie married LaVern Rinehart in Cozad. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Larry, Lynn and LaVay. Bonnie and LaVern lived their entire lives in Cozad. Bonnie worked at local cafes, drug stores, motels, the First United Methodist Church, and as a librarian at the Cozad Public Library for over 18 years. She was a member of the Cozad United Methodist Church and Rebekahs. She was involved with several extension clubs and the Boy and Girl Scout Organizations and was an active member of the Cozad DOES, and State and local Firemen’s Auxiliary. Bonnie loved life and her family. She enjoyed camping, dancing, crocheting, crafting and cooking. She enjoyed playing cards at the Grand Generation Center and attending Red Hatter’s meetings. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband LaVern in 2012; a great granddaughter; 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 nephews and grand dog, Spike. Survivors include her children, Larry Rinehart of Rapid City, SD, Lynn (Teresa) Rinehart of North Platte and LaVay (Dean) Horst of North Platte. Grandchildren Jeremy (Jennifer) Rinehart of Lincoln; Kayla Crowe of Pekin, IL; Lucas (Schuyler) Rinehart of McCook and Lynsey (Andy) Schmad of Omaha. Great grandchildren Madee and Cayden Sharp, Jackson and Jonah Rinehart; Adelyn and Reagan Schmad; and Bennett Rinehart. Grand dogs Maverick and Maisy Mae; special friends, Barb Fleharty and Donna Sinor; and a host of other relatives and friends she loved dearly. Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Services will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
