C. Allen Kauffman passed away peacefully at his home in Cozad, on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from a short battle with cancer, at the age of 76. Clarence Allen Kauffman was born on July 13, 1942 to Clarence and Margaret (Sheldon) Kauffman. He was Clarence and Margaret's first child eventually becoming the oldest of three sons. Allen grew up in Cozad on the family farm where he worked side by side with his father.
Allen accepted the Lord into his life as a teen and was baptized at Midway Lake at Camp Comeca. Allen attended Cozad High School and graduated in 1962. After high school, he attended Kansas State University for one semester, leaving to return to run the family farm. In 1965, he met Cheryl Parsons, and later married her on March 5, 1966. Allen and Cheryl welcomed three sons: Dana, Darin, and Ryan. They later welcomed foster-daughter, Angie.
Allen loved many things in life and lived life to the fullest. While at Kansas State, he enjoyed intramural wrestling and singing in the choir. One of his greatest loves was watching his children grow up and supporting them in their life endeavors. He cherished and adored his wife and loved doing life with her. As his sons and daughter grew up and married, his love for his grandchildren was contagious, and he developed a love for everything and anything having to do with them. He could often be found watching his grandchildren participate in football, baseball, basketball, swimming, dancing, and at times, he could be found having tea parties, playing games, and watching movies with them as well. To them, he was the world. He was their Papa. While his family was his greatest love, he thoroughly enjoyed Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, a chai latte tea, especially from Starbucks, and visiting with people. Allen had a natural love for everyone he met, and he was always able to find the good in everyone. To everyone who knew Allen, truly loved him, and often called him Papa Smurf.
Allen was proceeded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Kauffman; brother, Dick Kauffman; father-in-law, Donald Parsons; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cheryl; his children, Dana (Brandy) of Lincoln, Darin (Monica) of Omaha, Ryan (Melinda) of Omaha, and Angie Hernandez of Minnesota; grandchildren Hayden, Callie, Sebastian, Thaddeus, Corbin, Tessa, Alexa, James, Amanda, and Morgan; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Larry (Pam) Kauffman of Columbus; sister-in-law, Nancy Kauffman of Houston, Texas; mother-in-law Lillian Parsons of Gothenburg; numerous in laws, and nieces and nephews.
