Charles Lewis Gregory, formerly of Cozad, currently of Holdrege passed away on December 9, 2024 at Holdrege, Nebraska at the age of 93. Chuck was born on August 23, 1931, in Blairstown, Missouri, to Oralee and Mary (Miller) Gregory. Chuck joined the U.S. Army in February of 1952, serving honorably in the Korean War. He was very proud of his time in the military and held those memories close. Chuck began his career working hay mills in Nebraska, before opening a full-service Mobil gas station in Missouri. His journey continued when he took on a mechanic's role at Hodges Chevy in Lexington. A significant chapter of his life was spent helping to build the Monroe Auto Equipment in Cozad, where he became a proud early employee. He was one of the first workers to punch in on time cards, eventually becoming a maintenance foreman, and outside plant engineer. Chuck retired from Monroe Auto in 1992. On July 15, 1956, Chuck married Lois Loshonkohl in Cozad, Nebraska. Their life together was filled with love and adventure. After retirement, they embraced a life of travel, exploring the country in their camper. They sold their home in 2009 to travel full-time, enjoying winters in Yuma, Arizona, and Weslaco, Texas, while spending summers in Nebraska. Chuck and Lois delighted in fishing, boating, and pulling kids and grandchildren waterskiing. They even built a home west of Cozad in the early 70’s. In 1987 they moved to a home at Johnson Lake, creating lasting memories together. Chuck lived a full life and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois; daughter, Jean Hagemen; 1 sister and 5 brothers. Survivors include his son, Charles “Charlie” (Renee) Gregory of Sutherland and daughter, Linda (Kent) Hansen of Holdrege; grandchildren, Jackie (Eli) Ingram, Megan Gregory, (friend Josh) Blake (Lisa) Hansen, Lucas Hansen, Andria Hollingshead, Amber Hageman (friend Shawn), and Ashley (Darren) Kugel; great grandchildren, Gavin Gregory, Brody and Braxton Maranville and Cruz Slaght, Edith and Agnes Ingram, Lucious Hollingshead, Wyatt and Garrett Hagemen, Aaron Robbins, Carter and Colton Kugel and Chase Hansen; sister Ethel “Sis” (Dean) Cummins of Warsaw, MO; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
