Charlotte Jeanette Hartman

Charlotte Jeanette Hartman, former Cozad resident, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Kearney Regional Hospital at the age of 84. Charlotte was born April 17, 1936 in Callaway, Nebraska to Leo and Eva (Cudaback) Baker. She graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1954. Charlotte worked for the Telephone Company in Lexington, Holdrege and Omaha. On June 3, 1956, she married Donald Lewis "Buck" Hartman at Red Fern Church near Callaway. The couple moved to Pierre, South Dakota where Michael Ray was born. They then moved to Lexington and then to Cozad, where Douglas Wayne was born, followed by Gregory Lee a few years later. Charlotte worked at various jobs including Monroe Auto, Circle S Motel as a housekeeper, Hunt Cleaners, and worked alongside Buck in D & R Furniture, which he co-owned. Charlotte and Buck moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1985 and she managed apartments until they moved to Norton, Kansas in 1999, where they retired. Buck passed away in January of 2005. She was active in the various churches she attended. Charlotte recently moved to Callaway until being ill and needing hospitalization. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Monica) Hartman of Sperry, IA, Douglas (Kim) Hartman of Cozad and Gregory (Melissa) Hartman of Cozad; grandchildren, Kim Edwards, Janelle Hartman, Joe (Julie) Hartman, Rachel Cisneros, Lydia (Justin) Dorn, Cole Hartman and Erica (Noah) Stewart; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Sandy Fox of Callaway; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Block of Cozad, Norma Vanzant of Ulysses, KS and Joan Schweitzer of Bossier City, LA; and numerous friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father in law; husband; infant brother; sisters, Audrey Kugler and Janese McCaslin; sister-in-law, Vaneta McCreary; Brothers-in-law, Bob Hartman, Archie Block, Carroll McCreary, Jerry Schweitzer, Neal Kugler, Gage McCaslin and Steve Fox.

Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad Bible Church. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 pm to 7 pm with family receiving friends from 5 pm to 7 pm at Berryman Funeral Home.
