Cheryl Lea (Hines) Hueftle, 80, a former resident of Eustis, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Condolences may be shared online at berrymanfuneralhome.com. A family graveside service is planned at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, Nebraska, at a later time.
Cheryl was born May 29, 1943, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Arthur and Mildred (Pohl) Hines. She attended Gothenburg High School, graduating with the class of 1961. She attended Kearney State College and later worked in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), J. L. Brandeis and Sons, National Bank of Commerce and Farmer’s State Bank.
On September 14, 1966, she married the love of her life, Russell “Dean” Hueftle, in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in Eustis, Nebraska, and were happily married for 39 years, building a wonderful life and family together. Their union was blessed with two children, Stephanie and Kelly.
Cheryl’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured time spent with family and sharing home-cooked meals and baked goods with both family and friends. She was known for her homemade rolls, bread, pretzels, cakes and amazing holiday meals. Cheryl was a member of the Eustis United Methodist Church and sang in the chancel choir.
In later years, Cheryl relocated to Matelyn Retirement Community in St. Paul where she knew everyone by name and enjoyed attending music performances, participating in field trips and attending hymn singing and church services.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Vogel and their children, Paetyn Vogel and Piper Vogel, of Norman, Okla.; and her son, Kelly (Shelly) Hueftle of St. Paul, Neb., and their children, Max Hueftle and Maddie Harrahill; Josh Harrahill, of New York City, N.Y.; Noah Harrahill, of Storrs Mansfield, Conn.; and Emilea (Kyle) Harshman, and their children, Ryleigh and Ellie, of Lincoln, Neb.; as well as many extended family and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean Hueftle; and daughter-in-law, Faith (Lee) Hueftle.
