Clarence "Casey" L. Putnam of Cozad passed away on December 8, 2024, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg at the age of 88. Casey was born on March 31, 1936 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Sherman Fremont and Nancy Jane (Earll) Putnam.
Casey married Wilma Brown, the love of his life. The couple made their home in Cozad and recently celebrated an incredible 70 years of marriage, creating a legacy of love and support for their family.
Casey lived a life filled with hard work and adventure. He began his career by pumping gravel and contributed to Northwestern Engineering, helping to build the interstate. Eventually, he started his own disc rolling business, pouring years of dedication into building a family business until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Casey was adventurous. At the impressive age of 75, he went sky diving, and zip lining at the age of 80. His adventurous spirit was matched by his hobbies; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. An avid fisherman, he participated in many tournaments and cherished the memories made while traveling to these events. Additionally, he had a kind heart, often fixing broken bicycles for kids in the community.
Casey was not only a hard worker but also played harder. He was known for being selfless, always thinking about the well-being of others, and was a great provider for his family. One of his proudest accomplishments was receiving the Funeral Directors Award for saving a young boys life. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, as a man who embraced life to the fullest while caring for others.
Casey was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kelly; sisters, Virginia, Dolly, Mary Jane; brothers, Ben and Lester; and son-in-law, Dave Malcom.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; children, Jess (Cherie) Putnam of Overton, Deb (Tobyn Thompson) Malcom of Callaway, and Casey Joe Putnam of Cambridge; grandchildren, Jess Jr. (Kyla) Putnam of Minden, Heather (Randy) Dingwell of Holdrege, Josh (Carrie) Putnam of Overton, Jenn (Jonath) Jackson of Cheyenne, WY, David (Michelle) Malcom of Roca, Clayton (Kait VerEllen) Malcom of Beatrice, Tyler (Anna) Malcom of Lincoln, Mike Putnam of North Platte and Patrick Wier of Cambridge; 25 great grandchildren; brother, Leonard Putnam of Hildreth; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
