Dorthy M. Henry of Cozad passed away October 6, 2018, surrounded by family, at her daughter's home in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 78. Dorthy was born May 27, 1940 in Lexington, Nebraska to Roy and Anna (Rickertsen) Hilton. She graduated from Lexington High School. Dorthy married Harold "Hank" Henry at the Presbyterian Church in Lexington in 1958. They made their home northeast of Cozad. Their union was blessed with four children, Mike, Patty, Teresa and Nicki. She was an insurance agent for Thompson Agency in Cozad and Barney Insurance in Lexington until her retirement. Dorthy was a hard worker and loved living on the farm. She was a kind and caring person and always put others before herself. Her most treasured times were spent with her grandchildren and watching them play sports. She was a longtime member of the Cozad United Methodist Church and church circle, Rebekah Lodge, and local garden club. She was also an avid Husker fan and enjoyed traveling with her siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Delores Stoll and son-in-law, Tom Petersen. Survivors include her son, Mike (Jody) Henry of Cozad, daughters, Patty Henry of Kearney, Teresa (Kent) Cordes of Kearney, and Nicki (Mike Dorsey) Henry of North Platte; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Henry, Justin Henry and Jordon Henry of Cozad, Jacob Zimbelman, Kyle Zimbelman and Luke Zimbelman of North Platte, Katelyn Petersen and Kelsey Petersen of Kearney, Claire Cordes and Eli Cordes of Kearney; 4 great grandchildren, Alivia, Emerson, Parker and Braxton; sisters, Barbara (Bob) Taylor of Arkansas and Carolyn (Jerry) Brown of Doniphan and brothers, Robert (Jane) Hilton of Elwood and Dan Hilton of Arizona.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Gahn officiating. Burial is at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12 pm to 8 pm with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at Berryman Funeral Home.
