Eddie D. Irish of North Platte passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Great Plains Hospital at the age of 72. He was born December 17, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska to Bennett and Verna (Glenn) Irish and was baptized at the Church of Christ in Cozad. Ed graduated from Cozad High School and joined the U.S. Navy. He served two tours in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star. He married Linda Landercasper in Lexington, Nebraska before leaving for the military, they later divorced. He worked in Kearney, Nebraska as a Draftsman at a drafting firm. He moved to Sterling, Colorado and worked in a packing house. Ed married Luann Hoffman in Limon, Colorado, they later divorced. He moved back to North Platte and started trucking and retired from the Pepsi Company. Ed loved to go fishing, hunting, and spending time with his hunting buddy, Buck. He enjoyed attending sporting events for all of his nieces and nephews. Ed served his country with pride and carried the memories of the Vietnam War with him throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Bennett; brothers, Rick, Larry, Melvin, Steve, Pat and Bob; sister, Judy Vanderpool; nephews, Jeremy Stephen and Nathaniel Irish. He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda Stephen of Gothenburg, Cindy Irish of North Platte, and Trudy Delgado of Sterling, CO; brother, Ben Irish of North Platte; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell. Visitation with family present will be Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
