Esther J. Miller of Cozad, formerly of Ainsworth, Nebraska, left her earthly home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was 93 years old. She was born as Esther Joan Greathouse on October 19, 1930 to Justin and Geneva Reece) Greathouse of Ord, Nebraska. She was the youngest of five children, and her older siblings Leonard, Hilda, Stella, and Ruth have predeceased her.
She finished her primary education in Ord, Nebraska, her secondary education in Lexington, Nebraska, and her post-secondary education at Kearney State College. She taught in several schools in Nebraska and was teaching in the Halsey-Dunning School District at retirement. She married Marvin (Bud) Miller of Eddyville, Nebraska, in 1950. To this union three children were born: Cinda, Debra, and Bradley.
Bud and Esther moved to Ainsworth, Nebraska, in 1995, and Bud succumbed to cancer in 2000. Esther is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband.
She is survived by her children: Cinda (Dale) Hladky; Debra (Michael) Kresak; Bradley (Darlene) Miller; her grandchildren: Philip Hladky; Jennifer (Bill) Wilkinson; Kirk (Sheri) Hladky; Shannon (Chad) Mazzei; Christopher Kresak; Teresa (Aaron) LeMunyan; Aaron (Becca) Miller; Barbara (Mike) Leonard; Sharmaine Miller and special friend, Sherm Goochey; her great grandchildren: Bret, Garret, Madisen, Brayden, Makenna, Braxton, Rowan, Andrew, Brandon, Mckenlee, Allyson, Cecilia, Mira, and a few nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Wilson Public Library in Cozad. Graveside services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Ainsworth Cemetery with Pastor L.W. Christensen officiating. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is assisting the family.
