Frances Dawn Abbott

Frances Dawn Abbott of Cozad left this world Monday, November 21, 2022, four days short of her 90th birthday, at Cozad Community Hospital. Dawn was born November 25, 1932 in Cozad, Nebraska to Everett and Frances (Applegate) Jensen. She grew up on a  farm and taught country school in rural Cozad. Dawn married Kenneth Abbott on November 22, 1952 during a blizzard and drove to Hutchinson, Kansas where Kenny was stationed with the U.S. Navy. They later returned to Cozad where they made their home on a farm. Their union was blessed with six children, David, Jami, Deborah, Tamala, Patricia and Dwain. Dawn enjoyed playing the piano and was a skilled seamstress. She loved gardening and had many beautiful flower beds around her home. Dawn was a wonderful cook and treasured time spent with her family. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; and 2 sons, David and Jami. She is lovingly survived by her children, Deborah (Pete) Wardyn of Cozad, Tamala Abbott of Pueblo, CO, Patricia (Robert) Grabenstein of Cozad and Dwain (Jill) Abbott of Cozad; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
