JoAnn D. Phillippi of Cozad, Nebraska passed away January 3, 2021 at her home in Cozad, Nebraska. JoAnn was born March 30, 1934 in New Hope, Nebraska to Harry and Mabel (Maline) Peterson. She graduated from Gothenburg, Nebraska with the class of 1952. JoAnn attended Kearney State Teachers’ College and earned her teaching certificate. On May 20, 1956, she married Boyd Phillippi in Gothenburg, Nebraska. For the next 18 years they raised their four children near Lexington, Nebraska before moving into Lexington where they became very involved in the Evangelical Free Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School Class. In 2013, they moved to Cozad into a handicap accessible home due to JoAnn’s deteriorating bone disease. JoAnn enjoyed attending the Cozad Bible Church and especially enjoyed time spent with the Gleaners Women’s Group. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She was a powerfully faithful prayer warrior on behalf of her children, grandchildren and great children, as well as her church family and nation. She loved spending time in God’s Word with her husband, Boyd. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mabel Peterson of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Brothers Gene Peterson and Duane Peterson both of Gothenburg, Nebraska, and Don Peterson of Cozad, Nebraska; Daughter Sheri (Phillippi) Brace of Dresser, Wisconsin; Great grandson Wesley Lauby of Gretna Nebraska. Survivors include her husband Boyd Phillippi; Children: Carey and Vicki Phillippi of Bixby, Oklahoma, Sandra (Phillippi) and Mike Bappe of Cozad, Nebraska, Lisa (Phillippi) and Robert Highley Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Bible Church. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be Friday, January 8, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Cozad Bible Church with Pastor JC Calhoun officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to the service at New Hope Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
