June E. Easterday of Eustis passed away April 14, 2018 at the Elwood Care Center at the age of 83. June was born June 3, 1934 in rural Frontier County to Clifford and Helen (Heater) Stombaugh. June attended country school in Frontier County to 8th grade. June went to Idaho to help her sister's family after the birth of a baby. While there, she met her brother-in-laws brother, Donald Easterday, a widower with two children. Donald and June were married April 4, 1953. June became mother to Donald's two children, Gene and Carolyn. To their marriage four children were born, Vernon, John, Rodney and Marjorie. In 1958, June and Donald moved to Nebraska to a farm south of Eustis. The family grew and all worked the family farm. In December 1975, they moved to their new home in Eustis to make more room for the boys. In later years, Donald built Easterday Restorations and they down sized to an apartment there. Having raised her family, June began working for Central Plains Home Health out of Cozad. She worked there for 17 years while taking college classes to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. The Easterdays traveled to many countries in Europe and to Hawaii with a farm tour group. They belonged to the Golden Rod Antique Auto Club and took many trips with the group in their Model A. One of June's pastimes was embroidery work, she was noted for her tiny stitches. June volunteered at the Eustis Senior Center for years and was a long time member of the West Canyonettes Extension Club and Christian Womens Club. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in North Platte. She served on many boards of the church over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; son, Gene; sisters, Lila Wahley, Verna Ercoli and Opal Easterday; brothers, Earl and Glen Stombaugh; son-in-law, Rex Houser and 2 great granddaughters. Survivors include her children, Carolyn Houser of Eustis, Vernon Easterday and wife Maria of Eustis, John Easterday and wife Pamela of CA, Rodney Easterday and wife Kim of Eustis and Marjorie Hueftle of Bartley; brothers, Clyde Stombaugh and wife LaVeda of Cozad, Jay Stombaugh and wife Sharon of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Sherry Easterday of Eustis; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Mitch Korf officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery, Eustis. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
