Kathleen A. Hoffmaster passed away January 31, 2019 at Welcov Assisted Living in Lexington at the age of 77. Kathy was born October 9, 1941 in Geneva, Nebraska to Arthur and Bessie (Nedza) Wulf. Kathy attended District 34, a country school south of Ohiowa, through the 8th grade. She then graduated from Ohiowa High School with the class of 1959. After graduation, Kathy worked for J.C. Penney in Hebron, and then attended cosmetology school in Lincoln, Nebraska. Following cosmetology school, Kathy worked at the Hotel Beauty Shop in Aurora, Nebraska. She met Allan Hoffmaster at a Cafe in Aurora where she and her friends would meet for afternoon coffee. Kathy and Al were married October 19, 1963. The couple owned Al's Pastry and Cafe in Aurora for 7 years prior to moving to Cozad, where they raised their 5 boys. Kathy was a beautician in Cozad until her retirement in 2016. She also enjoyed Cake Decorating and made numerous cakes for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and many other occasions. Kathy started a Thanksgiving Day Dinner for anyone and everyone in the community. She, along with family, friends and the support of businesses in the community, would organize this annual event. Kathy was a faithful and devoted member of the American Lutheran Church for 49 years, having served on church council, was co-director of the annual Fall Luncheon and attended Adult Bible Study classes, Women's Circle meetings and Bible studies. Her most treasured times were spent with family and attending grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities and events. She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Allan; and son, Darin Hoffmaster; brother, Ronnie Wulf and brother-in-law, Randy Hosick. Survivors include her sons, Troy (Susan Sheets) Hoffmaster of Lakewood, CO, Duane (Rainy) Hoffmaster of Lexington, Terry (Shelley) Hoffmaster of McCook and Tyrone (Julie) Hoffmaster of Cozad; grandchildren, Coltn, Kylee, Jake (Danielle), Amber (Nate), Katie (Matt), Darci, Blake, Anna, Estaphon (Chasity) and Jordan; great grandchildren, Chayden, Maliya, Silas, Asher and Desmond; mother, Bessie Wulf; sisters, Pat Hosick and Dorothy (Larry) Smith; brother, Robert (Louise) Wulf; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wulf; and many other extended family and friends. Services will be Monday, February 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Vicar Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 pm to 5 pm with family present during this time at Berryman Funeral Home.
