Leah Mae Votruba

August 16, 1935 — December 17, 2021

Leah Mae Votruba of Cozad passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 86. Mae was born August 16, 1935 at Gothenburg, Nebraska to Howard and Amy (Lake) Davis. She attended school in Cozad, Nebraska and worked at the Dixie Inn. In 1957, Mae moved to Denver, Colorado and worked as a waitress and did factory work. She also worked with the Boy Scouts for 25 years. Mae loved being a mother and devoted her life to raising her son, Howard. She took care of her father until his death and then moved back to Cozad. She was a member of the Cozad Christian Church. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur Davis and sister, LaDonna Brogen. Survivors include her son, Howard John Votruba and wife Shannon of Sheridan Lake, CO; 5 grandchildren, Zach, Benjamin, Josh, Mary Kathyrn and Maggie Votruba; brother, Leo Davis and wife Neoma of Cozad; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Christian Church. Services will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service time at the Cozad Christian Church with Pastor David Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery.
