Lee Joe Herrick of Cozad passed away on January 23, 2025, at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 77. Joe was born on December 23, 1947, in McCook, Nebraska to Wilbur and Nora (Bradley) Herrick. Joe graduated from UNSA in Curtis, Nebraska with the class of 1966. After graduating, he married Alice Shepherd on July 10, 1966, in Stockville, Nebraska. Their marriage brought joy and love into their lives, and together they raised two daughters, Sue and Angela.
He spent 43 years working at Tenneco Automotive/Monroe Auto until his retirement, establishing himself as a dedicated and hardworking member of his community.
Joe had a passion for spending time with his family. He cherished every moment shared with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. In his leisure time, he enjoyed several hobbies, including collecting and shooting guns, trap shooting, and attending gun shows. Joe was also a proud member of the Eustis Gun Club. His artistry showed through his woodworking, where he built Christmas decorations and crafted apothecary chests, reflecting his creative spirit and dedication to his crafts.
Joe's life was marked by hard work, love for his family, and a variety of interests that brought him happiness. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry Herrick and nephew Brad Herrick. Survivors include his wife Alice; daughters Sue Britt of Gothenburg and Angela (Matt) Buesing of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Hali (Tom) Oyler of Cozad, Ashley Herrick of Gothenburg, Logan (Destinie) Cashman of Gothenburg, Tyler Buesing of Gothenburg, Kenya Buesing of Kearney, and Xavier McBride of Gothenburg; 11 great grandchildren; brother Louis (Diane) Herrick of North Platte, in laws Dave and Norma Greeley of Hershey and Wayne and Carol Shepherd of Broken Bow, Duane and Brenda Shepherd of Brady, Darlene Pierson of North Platte, and Lorraine Herrick of Champion; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Harvey Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
