Lloyd Hugo Walker

July 15, 1939 — December 28, 2021

Lloyd Hugo Walker, 82, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home in rural Farnam, Nebraska.

He was born July 15, 1939, son of Rudolph and Ida (Harlan) Walker. Lloyd grew up in rural Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1956. After high school Lloyd worked for a Railroad for a short time before being drafted into the Army. He was stateside from 1963 to 1965. During his time in the Army he kept in contact with the love of his life by writing letters. On February 7, 1965, Lloyd was united in marriage to Joyce (Olson) Walker in Grant, Nebraska. To this union, six children were born: Lynn, Dan, Jim, Brad,  Paul, and Jason. They made their home in rural Farnam where Lloyd was a farmer/rancher, even after physically being unable to farm/ranch, he would still give advice to his sons.

He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church and served on the church council. Lloyd was also a member of the Eustis Legion Auxiliary. Lloyd enjoyed spending time on the farm and could visit with anyone, especially with his sense of humor. Due to his failing health, the last 15 years, Lloyd had a devoted wife and the Central Plains Home Health and Hospice nurses who took care of him so he was able to stay on the farm.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce, four sons: Dan (Janine) Walker of Kearney, Jim (Cathy) Walker of Eustis, Brad (Geraldean) Walker of Grant, and Paul Walker of Shelton: eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother David (Glenda) Walker of Eustis, sister-in-law Jean Walker of Arizona, Aunt Butch Harlan of Arizona, along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by a daughter and son, Lynn and Jason, his brother Alfred Walker, his parents Rudolph and Ida Walker, father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Christiana Olson and a nephew.
