Marla Kay Weber, 68, died Tuesday, April 8, 2024 at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad Nebraska. Marla was born on July 21, 1955, in Alliance, Nebraska to Harvey and Delores Hampton. The family moved around western Nebraska throughout Marla’s childhood, eventually settling in the Scottsbluff/Gering area. Marla graduated from Gering High School.

On October 5, 1974, Marla married Charles Chester (Charlie) Weber of Cozad, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born. They started their family in western Nebraska for a couple of years before returning to Cozad to help with the Weber family farm. Marla stayed home to raise the kids, help on the farm and provided childcare for some to the neighborhood kids. She later went to nursing school, first earning her LPN degree and then her RN degree. Marla worked at the Cozad Community Hospital for twenty years and then at nursing and assisted living facilities in central Nebraska. She retired in 2021.

Marla was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, enjoyed reading, planting flowers, working as a nurse and being a grandmother. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harvey Hampton, Delores, and Chester Hampton; her two youngest brothers, Raymond and Dawain Hampton; father and mother-in-law, Chester and Marjorie Weber; and sister-in-law, Ronda Weber.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie; siblings Carlie (Crystal) Hampton, Brenda (Randy) Hoff, and Rodney (Dixie) Hampton; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Gary) Kumke; brother-in-law, Carroll Weber, her children, Sonya Ann (Jeff) Buskirk of Kearney, Heather Dee Weber of Kearney, and William Chester (Cassondra) Weber of Omaha; and seven grandchildren, AnnaRose Marie Wilson, Dane Charles Buskirk, Grace Ann Weber, Izabella (Bella) Kaydee Buskirk, Joy Renae Bell, Hope Christine Bell, and Elijah David Killion; and two step-grandsons, Anthony and Chris Oberlin; and many nieces and nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Gothenburg. Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard Tribute. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
