Martha Patterson-Carttar passed away April 5, 2018 at her home in Lexington at the age of 99. Martha was born April 5, 1919 in Berlin, Nebraska to George and Floy (Clark) McFadden. Martha married Vernon Patterson on May 21, 1936 in Broken Bow, Nebraska. The couple were blessed with two children, Loy and Jerry. Martha and Vernon raised their family on their farm south of Arnold, Nebraska. She loved children and opened up her home as a day care provider. The couple moved to Lexington in 1992. After Vernon passed away, Martha met Gerald Carttar. They were married in 1996. Martha enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She loved raising her farm animals and cooking family Sunday dinners. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Jerry Lee Patterson; 4 infant sons; 1 grandson; 1 great grandson; brother, Veryl McFadden; and 3 son-in-laws. Survivors include her daughter, Loy Kyle of Cozad; grandchildren, Randal Nichelson and wife Teressa of Beaver Crossing, Cheryl Bray and husband Ted of Overton, David Buesing and wife Tammy of Stapelton, Pamela Roller and husband Orval Jr. of Arkansas, Marsha Carttar and husband Lawrence of Johnson Lake, Jeffery Ready of Greenwood, Deanna Lessig and husband Matthew of Overton, James Patterson and wife Raija of Oregon, Jason Patterson of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Melgene Patterson of Lexington; 28 great grandchildren; 24 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great granddaughter; her beloved dog, Taffy; nieces, nephews; extended family and close friends. Services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael Boling officiating. Burial will follow at Arnold Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at Berryman Funeral Home.
