Matthew Darin Daharsh

Matthew D. Daharsh of Fort Morgan, Colorado, formerly of Cozad, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 53. He was born July 30, 1971 in North Platte, NE to William and Ruth (Stahly) Daharsh.

He graduated from Cozad High School in 1990 where he was an active participant in the school’s speech and debate programs, earning him numerous accolades at the local and state levels. He carried his love for comedy and performing with him throughout his life, and always had a joke ready no matter the situation.

Matt spent most of his working years as a district sales representative for Hipp Wholesale Foods, Thompson Foods, and US Foods. He loved working with people, and thrived as a salesman, winning many trips, awards, and recognitions throughout his career. In his own words, he absolutely loved his job until he didn’t.

In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to music, developing a wide taste for every genre ranging from R.E.M. to Dead Kennedys to Bowling for Soup, proving his playlist was as unpredictable as his sense of humor. He enjoyed watching new movies, from actions to thrillers, and especially enjoyed bonding with loved ones by showing them new songs or movies.

Later in life, he took on other hobbies such as antiquing and collecting. He was always on the lookout for hidden treasures – and a good deal. Matt even opened his own antique booth for a short time, and worked to start his own trading and selling business. He held many sales outside of his home, where locals would stop by to browse or purchase his vintage collections.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Daharsh, of Fort Morgan, CO; parents, Bill and Ruth Daharsh of Cozad; sister, Samantha Gewecke of Kearney; his daughters Carlin (Justin) Discigil of Washington DC, Gabi Daharsh of Spearfish, SD, and Chloe Daharsh of Gothenburg; his stepchildren Kahla (Kevin) German of Palmyra, PA, Skylar (Cori) Steckbeck of San Antonio, TX, Keenan Steckbeck of Log Lane Village, CO, and Heather Smith of Bristol, CT; and his grandchildren Briella German, Madelyn German, and an expected grandson due in April 2025.
