Melba June Harding

Melba J. Harding of North Platte passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at North Platte Care Center at the age of 61. Melba was born June 19, 1961 at Greeley, Colorado to Lawton and Mary (Jimmerson) McKenzie. She moved to Seneca, Nebraska in 1979. Melba worked at Cattleman’s Bar & Restaurant that her parents owned where she met her future husband, Tony Harding. They were married on June 20, 1981 and later divorced. Their union was blessed with two children, Misty and Michelle. She and the girls moved to Alliance, Nebraska to be close to her sister, Felishia. Melba had a passion for cooking. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In 2004, she moved to Cozad to be close to her girls and grandchildren. Melba suffered a stroke 12 years ago and moved to the care home in North Platte. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Michelle Eldridge of Cozad and Misty (Trevor) Freeman of Cozad; grandchildren, Aubree, Lauren, Titus, Baylee, Bristol, Ayvah, Asher and Brixley; sisters, Felishia (Roger) Hoagland of Alliance, NE and Bobbie (Jess) Licking of Seneca, NE; half brother, J.D. (Deb) McKenzie of Fort Collins, CO; son in law, Charlie Eldridge of Cozad; special friend, Mark Buckley of Brady, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Harvey Pierce officiating. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
