Michael “Mike” S. Parks, age 64, of Kearney, Nebraska passed away Monday, March 3, 2025. Mike was born May 22nd,1960 in Cambridge, Nebraska to his parents George W. and LaVonne F. (Brown) Parks. He attended and graduated from Cozad High School class of ‘78. Mike went to college at Wayne State and graduated from Kearney State College in 1982. 

Mike married Merilee Mathieu on July 28, 1984, in Cozad, Nebraska, they later divorced. He worked in the Cozad, Kearney and Grand Island areas including Valley Vending, Coleman, Eaton’s and most recently Cash-Wa Distributing and Capture It photo booth business. Mike’s many talents included electrical wiring, tinkering with vehicles, buying and selling cars, attending car shows, short road trips to see new places, hunting for treasures at garage sales, going hunting, fishing, bicycle riding and playing the lottery. Mike loved his time spent with his daughter and grandchildren. 

Surviving relatives include, his daughter Heidi Bussing (Jared); grandchildren Wren, Sophia, Devin and Carissa Bussing of Omaha; his mother LaVonne Parks, sisters Cheryl Cañas and Susan Thurn (Jerry) of Cozad; along with many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friends Pam Moritz of Grand Island and Rob Hinkle (Jera) of Kearney; along with many other dear and special friends he would call, text or meet at the Legion. Michael was preceded in death by his father, George Parks; and former wife, Merilee Parks. 

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Harvey Pierce officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be Monday, March 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Kearney Cemetery.
