Norma F. Chittenden of Cozad passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 95. Norma was born February 18, 1924 in Rural Dawson County, Nebraska to Ulfert J. and Sophia A. (Buesing) Block. She attended rural country school. On July 30, 1943, Norma married C. Carol Chittenden at Gothenburg, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with two children, Karen and Gary. Norma and her mother served the troops at the Canteen when they came through North Platte, Nebraska. She worked for many years as a clerk at the JCPenney Store in downtown Cozad. She was self taught to play guitar and piano. She loved to sew and crochet, gardening and canning. Norma enjoyed going dancing with Carol and their friends. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed frying chicken and making pancakes. Norma was a very caring and loving person. Family was everything to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Rosavawn Porter and brother-in-law, Herb Porter. Survivors include her children, Gary (Pam) Chittenden of Leeds, ME and Karen (Ron) Stear of Cozad; grandchildren, Sarah Chittenden (Adam Reed) of North Platte, Jason Cover (Tamra Portner) of Auburn, Josh Cover of Kearney and Matt (Angie) Cover of Cozad; great grandchildren, Caleb Cover of Auburn, Levii Cover of Cozad, Brad Waugh of Cozad, Amaris Crandall of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services and burial will be private. Public visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
