Norma Kay Henry, age 85 of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Cozad Community Hospital. Norma, the second of seven children of Harold and Geraldine (Griffin) Clark, was born in Bertrand, Nebraska, January 30, 1937. She graduated with the Class of 1954 from Elwood High School. On August 8, 1954, Norma married Daniel B. Henry Jr. in Elwood, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with four sons; Rick, Danny, Chris and Jon. They lived in Lexington, California and rural Cozad before making their permanent home in Cozad.
Norma worked several jobs before finishing her working career at Monroe Auto in the shipping department for 37 years. She was involved with the Cozad Blazerettes and Dawson County Crimestoppers. Norma was an extremely hard worker and born caretaker. She enjoyed quilting, baking, reading and gardening just to name a few. Norma’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and friends. She loved attending her grandkids activities, going to and hosting large family gatherings and bargain shopping. Norma was a wonderful cook and baker and was famous in the family for her tacos, fried chicken, monkey meat sandwiches, pies, dinner rolls and anything she canned. For the past few years one of the main events was grape jelly making at her house with anyone who could attend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Ray Phillips; husband Daniel Henry Jr; son Danny Henry; sisters and brother-in-law’s, Charlotte Wence, Twyla (Allan) Phillips, Connie (Jack) Reeves and Bette Mae (Fred) Carlson and brother, Charles Clark. Survivors include; sons, Rick (Wendy) Henry of Eustis, Chris (Nancy) Henry of Lincoln and Jon (Denise) Henry of Deshler; 8 grandchildren, Silke, Mindy, Zach, Ross, Cuyler, Matt, Carly and Gavin; 16 great grandchildren; sister Linda (James) Carlson; brother-in-law George Wence; sister-in-law Sandy Clark and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Newell with Harvey Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
