Oran Eugene Smock

Oran Eugene Smock passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at his home in Cozad at the age of 80.  Eugene was born September 24, 1939 in Cozad and graduated with the class of 1958. On June 4, 1961, he married Judith McNulty at the Nazarene Church in Cozad.  Three daughters were born to this union: Sherri Ann, Dawn Marie and Crystal Lynn.  Eugene joined the U.S. Army in 1963 and was stationed in Korea. He worked for Bill Walker farming for over 48 years. Eugene enjoyed shooting guns and fishing. He also enjoyed visiting wineries and experimenting making homemade wine. He loved spending time with family. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; brother, Carl and sisters, Judy and Jackie. He is survived by his three daughters, Sherri Policky of Kearney, Dawn (Steve) Beans of Cozad, Crystal (Steve) Caravan of Grand Island; 9 Grandchildren, Austin (Nicole) Policky of San Antonio, TX, Logan Policky of Kearney, Tarren Policky of Kearney, Travis Beans of Fremont, Morgan (Lacey) Smock of Cozad, Rachel Caravan of Grand Island, Kayla (Andy) Schmidt of Sioux City, IA, Brooke (Nate) Modlin of Kearney, and Chanc Caravan of Grand Island; 6 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter; and 3 brothers, Dale of Illinois, Ervin of Cozad, Richard of Holdrege; and sister Clara Arfman of Lincoln. Memorials are suggested to the family in his name for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Harvey Pierce officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Wednesday December 18, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with family present from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
