Phyllis Birdean Whitefoot Maline, 100, of Lincoln, a lifelong Nebraska girl, passed away December 20, 2017. Born April 28, 1917, to George and Dora Whitefoot, she grew up on Hardscrabble Ranch near Lodgepole, with her two sisters, Irma Kreider and Lucille Richmond. She graduated from Hastings Business College where she met her husband, Glendon Maline. They built a family business together in Cozad and raised their two daughters, Betty Ann Maline and Barbara Bartle. Later she worked at Cozad State Bank for fourteen years. After 77 years as a Cozad Haymaker, she moved to Lincoln in 2015. Her interests and activities included crocheting hundreds of caps for cancer patients, china painting and playing bridge. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of PEO Chapter IB. When asked about her longevity, she attributed it to a positive attitude and....good luck! Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband and by her son, Richard Maline. Surviving her are daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ann Maline and Andy Armbruster of Davidson, N.C., and Barbara and Bob Bartle of Lincoln; grandchildren, Charlie (Allison) Garner, Jane Murray, Greg (Tammy) Garner, Megan (Thenus) Franklin, Drew (Susan) Armbruster and Ali (Kelly) Bartle. She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Private family inurnment will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
