Rebecca DeBord Johnson, aged 73 passed away on November 5, 2024 in Gothenburg, NE. Born on June 25, 1951 in Boise, Idaho, Rebecca was known for her sociable nature and innate ability to make everyone around her feel at ease. She was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother who cherished spending quality time with her family and friends.
She was an alumna of Dalhart, TX High School and furthered her education at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. She was a woman of many interests and her passions extended to her personal hobbies that included reading, knitting, art, crafts, and puzzles, each reflecting a creative and thoughtful nature.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her sons, Benjamin Harrison, Andrew Harrison (Rebecca), Kevin Harrison (Jessica); her sister Karen De Bord Gookin (Nolan); her brother David DeBord (Debbie) and her cherished grandchildren, Elise and Meredith. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Edward Johnson and her parents Helen and Burle DeBord.
A celebration of life will be held in the future where friends and family can gather to honor Rebecca’s memory. Burial will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Rebecca’s warmth and generosity will be deeply missed but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
