Rosellen Ann Dickmeyer

Rosellen Ann Dickmeyer, formerly of Arapahoe, NE, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in her assisted living home in Cozad, NE with her daughter Gwen by her side. She had many caring nurses and friends and family who visited in the days prior to her passing while on her journey to her final resting place.

She was the youngest child and only daughter of Richard and Helene (Wendland) Dickmeyer, born April 11, 1957, in Oxford, NE. She was raised on the family farm north of Arapahoe in Gosper County, which was homesteaded by German immigrants from the Oregon Trail before being passed down throughout the generations to Richard. Rosellen always felt a close bond with her German relatives and kept in touch with them through letters and was able to spend time with them when they visited Nebraska in 1977, 1979, 1982, and 1992.

Rosellen was baptized on May 5, 1957, and confirmed on May 30, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe. Her confirmation verse was appropriately Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because God's power brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1975.

Rosellen enjoyed fishing and camping trips with her family especially to the Black Hills where she had extended family. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games. She was an avid reader and in her later years she devoted much of her time to reading scripture and attending Bible studies. She had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She exemplified the biblical principle of loving your neighbor as yourself and would give whatever she had to those in need.

She was preceded in death by her father & mother, Richard & Helene; treasured aunts & uncles Emma (Martin) Monter, Elvira (Harold) Bloch, Bertha (Frank) Kalthoff, Margaret (Leonard) Dahms, Henreitta (Walter) Warner, Victor (Helen) Wendland, Max (Esta) Wendland, Martin “Pete” (Dora) Wendland, Carl “Charlie” Wendland, Leonard (Anna & Gladys) Wendland, Leon (Dorothy) Dickmeyer, Junior “J.D.” (Judy) Dickmeyer, and Eleanor (Aaron) Schoenefeld; along with uncle, George Wendland, that passed before she was born.

She is survived by her two daughters, Gwen (James) Gundell of Gothenburg, NE and Alyssa (David) Schwenke of Logan, UT; four grandsons Jaxson & Turner Gundell, and Bentley Brady & Elisha “Eli” Schwenke; four brothers Richard “Dick” L. Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, NE, Kim (Stephanie) Dickmeyer of Venango, NE, Gary (Claire) Dickmeyer of Stuttgart, Germany, and David Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, NE; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26, 2025, with the internment of Rosellen's ashes at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near her hometown of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
