Roy Woldt of Cozad passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney at the age of 82. Roy was born October 1, 1939 in Wisner, Nebraska to Herman and Elma (Field) Woldt. He grew up on a farm until the age of 10 when they moved to Pilger, Nebraska. Roy graduated from Pilger High School with the class of 1957. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 8, 1957 at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Following the service, he moved to Oakland, Nebraska where he worked at the local tire shop. On September 12, 1964, Roy married Gloria Mae Vahle at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, Nebraska. In 1968 he started at the O.A. Cooper Co. in South Sioux City, Nebraska, transferred to Mustang, Oklahoma and then to Cozad in 1975. In 1996 he went to work at Horizon Ag in Gothenburg and was there until his retirement in 2007. Roy moved to the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in 2020, where he got to enjoy visiting with other service members, cheering on the Huskers and giving the nurses a hard time. He was a member of the VFW Posts in Wisner and Cozad as well as a long time member of Cozad Elks Lodge. Roy will be dearly missed by his family and remembered with love. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Woldt; sisters, Darlene Olsen and Alice Quick. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Woldt of Cozad; son Brian Woldt of Cozad and daughter Brenda (Rod) Sheets of Elwood; grandsons, Mitchell (Alysia) Sheets of Bartley, Brandon (Audrie) Woldt of Minden, Rylee Woldt of Cozad; granddaughter, Miranda (Jeff) Pickinpaugh of Eustis; great grandchildren, Broghan and Griffin Sheets of Bartley, Saylor and Dutson Pickinpaugh of Eustis and Callan Woldt of Minden; sister Mary Lueshen of West Point, NE; brother-in-law, Don Olsen of Omaha; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the family in his name for later designation. Inurnment with Military Honors will be Friday, February 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Vicar Angela Chacón officiating. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
