Ruth M. Monter

Ruth M. Monter of Eustis passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Elwood Care Center at the age of 89. Ruth was born December 28, 1932 near Eustis, Nebraska to Fred and Paulena (Schneider) Toberer. She grew up on a farm east of Eustis and graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1951. Ruth received a teaching degree from Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney and taught school from 1952 to 1958. On December 22, 1957, Ruth married Roger Monter at Eustis, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm north of Holbrook, Nebraska until moving to Eustis in 2008. Ruth loved the farm and was a hands on farm wife. She enjoyed baking, especially decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She was a faithful and devoted member St. John's Lutheran Church.  For many years she was an active member of the Sunshine Club. Ruth enjoyed oil painting and playing the piano. Her most cherished times were spent with family, friends and her four-legged friend, Smokey. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Scott and brother, Kenneth Toberer. Survivors include her son, Steve (Debbie) Monter of Cambridge and daughter Joyce (Lynn) Young of Eustis; 5 grandchildren, Michael Monter of Cambridge, Sarah (Dave) Marshall of MI, Brooke (Joe) Lambert of Kearney, Kaitlyn (Michael) Ziola of Lincoln and Shawn Young of Omaha; 9 great grandchildren, Mileeya Monter, Alena Marshall, Kiera Marshall, Mccoy Lambert, Lincoln Lambert, Conner Lambert, Thomas Lambert, Elsie Marshall and Oliver Ziola; brother in law, Bill Monter, and sister in law, Mona Monter.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or Eustis Senior Center. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Gundell and Vicar Angela Chacón officiating. Burial will follow at Eustis East Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
