Sergio Chavez Marquez

Sergio Chavez Marquez of Cozad passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his home in Cozad at the age of 69. He was born December 20, 1952 at Presón de Golondrinas, Madera, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Chavez and Esther Marquez.

Sergio was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend that anyone could have. He was always there to help and give when anyone needed it. He spent his life providing for his family in anyway he could. He was very humble and respectful in everything. Creativity is what he valued the most. Many knew him as the handyman of Cozad. He loved his family and absolutely adored his granddaughter, Ariana, along with grandson Jacobi. His passion in life was to tinker and create unique items to give to his family. We all loved him and will miss him dearly, as the legacy he left behind will be remembered forever.

He is survived by immediate family wife, Billie; companion, Adrianna; son, Gonzalo; daughter, Monica; daughter in law, Angie; granddaughters, Jocelyn and Ariana; grandson, Jacobi; sisters, Martha, Irma, GuadaLupe, Graciela, Teresa; and brother, Rene. Family in heaven include his father Jose, mother Esther, sister Carmen, brothers Gonzalo, Oscar, and Javier.

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Harvey Pierce officiating. Cremation was chosen. There will be no visitation.
