Stanley R. Gentzler passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 94. Stan was born April 4, 1928 at Homer, Nebraska to Gurney and Mable (Sorensen) Gentzler. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1939, the family moved to Creighton, Nebraska where Stan graduated from high school with the class of 1946. He married Audrey Kukral on June 2, 1949. Their union was blessed with five children, Deanne, Wynetta, Sandra, Dwight and Robert. Stan worked at lumber yards in Creighton and Columbus. He and Audrey moved their family to Cozad in 1961 where he was manager of Mead Lumber. In 1970, Stan became sales manager at Nebraska Plastics in Cozad to promote and introduce a new industry, Country Estate PVC Fence. He traveled all over the United States setting up new distributors of the fence. Stan retired in 1996. He was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was president of the Cozad School Board, Rotary Club, Cozad Jaycees and Cozad Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge. Stan enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing in his free time. He loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey; sister, Leola Stingley; and 3 brothers, Roger, Dale and Gordon Gentzler. Survivors include his children, Dee (Roger) Nuss of Lee's Summit, MO, Wynetta (Terry) Headley of Omaha, Sandy (Kevin) Rhone of Lincoln, Dwight (Linda) Gentzler of Lincoln and Bob (Kathi) Gentzler of Gretna; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church.
