Vera L. McCance of Cozad passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 81. Vera was born January 22, 1940 at her family's home in Cozad, Nebraska to Merlin and Mildred (Warren) Earll. She attended rural schools near Gothenburg and Cozad. Vera married Dick Bullis in 1957 and had two children, Denise and Richie. In 1966, Vera married Richard McCance and had a son, Shawn. She was well known for her babysitting and ironing. Vera enjoyed watching football and cheering on her favorite teams, the Huskers and Dallas Cowboys. She loved music and singing. Church was important to Vera and she devoted much of her life in the missionary work and serving funeral dinners at the church. Vera enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, board games and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching her family grow and welcomed new family members with open arms and an open heart. Vera was very humble, giving and willing to help anyone out in need and will be missed dearly by many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Merlin Earll. Survivors include her husband, Richard McCance of Cozad; sister, Kathy Duyck of Longmont, CO; daughter Denise Bullis of Cozad; sons, Richie Bullis of Beatrice and Shawn McCance (Jennifer McCance) of Glenwood, IA; grandchildren, Ashly (Raff) Ducker and Brett of Lincoln, Brianna (McCance) Wisecup and Zach of Papillion, Brooke-Lynn (McCance) Rascon and Martin of Cozad and Destani McCance of Lexington; great grandchildren, Lilly, Layla and Linnea Rascon and Ali Wisecup; and numerous extended family.
Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cozad Christian Church with Pastor David Haynes officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
