Verna M. Kvasnicka

Verna May Kvasnicka of Cozad passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at Emerald Care in Cozad at the age of 96. Verna was born in Elwood, Nebraska on September 17, 1926 to Gilbert and Anna (Hueftle) Houser. The family moved to Cozad in 1940. Verna graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1944. In 1944, she married Darwin Kvasnicka. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Ron, Connie and Lannie. Verna and Darwin loved to go dancing at the Grand Generation Center. She enjoyed baking, cooking, camping and fishing. Verna treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her cats and dogs. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Nazarene Church in Cozad for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband. Survivors include her children, Ron (Sharon Brand) Kvasnicka, Connie (Grant) Meyer, and Lannie (Kelly) Kvasnicka, all of Cozad; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.  Verna’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nazarene Church in Cozad with Pastor Susan Sukraw officiating.
