Vicki Carol (Peden) Loibl, 84, of Kearney, Ne, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Meadowlark Pointe, in Cozad, Nebraska.
Vicki was born on January 20, 1941, to Buddy and Barbara (Bump) Hoyt, at the Hoyt ranch north of Whitman, Nebraska. She was one of a pair of twin girls, making her birth especially special. Vicki and Sheri were delivered by a midwife each weighing only 3 pounds. She was also blessed with three other siblings; Becky, Gary, and Karen. Vicki worked hard on her family ranch while growing up and loved her family deeply.
Vicki went to grade school for one year in Whitman, Nebraska, living with her Grandpa & Grandma Bump. She attended country school No. 151 through eighth grade. She then attended UNSA at Curtis for high school. She graduated in 1958. Later in life Vicki attended the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, in Curtis and earned her degree as a veterinary technician. She was very proud of that accomplishment, as was her family.
Vicki was married to Gordon Peden on June 24, 1958 and she lived and worked on the farm for 43 years. They were blessed with three children: Teri, Mark, and Cody. She was passionate about horseback riding; and along with her children, they would often ride in the hills near their home and also at the local 4-H Club. Vicki also raised Quarter Horses and schnauzers! She was a kind, loving and amazing animal breeder. She took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard and farm.
Vicki later married Roger Loibl on March 20, 2023. They loved to travel together and enjoyed listening to her great-nephew, B.J. Jamison, play at local venues in Kearney. Roger and Vicki ran Roger’s Mowing Service together for 10 years. Over the years, Vicki also loved working at J.R. Western Store in Kearney. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother; twin sister Sheri Jamison; brother, Gary Hoyt; brother-in-law, George Younkin Jr.; and her son, Mark Peden.
Vicki will be greatly missed by her loving husband Roger; daughter Teri (Tim) Schmeeckle of Gothenburg; son Cody (Debbie) Peden of Cozad; bonus daughter Janna (Scott) Zimbelman of Cozad; her grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) German of Cozad; Shane (Erica) Stahla, of Axtell; Leila Schmeeckle, of Gothenburg; Tyler ( Angela) Peden of Cozad; Chelsea (Justin) Fries, of Oxford; Jamie Peden, of Tremonton, Utah; Taylor (John) Meitl of Clayton, Kansas; John (Lexi) Peden of Goodland, Kansas; Eric (Lauren) Zimbelman of Cozad; Courtney (Ally) Zimbelman-Burt of Lincoln; Amber (Jay) Guerra of Cozad; Brandon (Kelly) Conroy, of Kearney; Brooke (Derek) Wolf of Cozad; her sisters Becky Younkin, of Ainsworth; Karen McGinn, of Banning, California; and sister-in-law Carolyn Hoyt, of Mullen; brother-in-law, Beryle Jamison of Ashby, Nebraska.
