Victor 'Bill' R. Cover Jr.

Victor R. 'Bill' Cover of Lexington passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2019 at Lexington Regional Hospital at the age of 70. Bill was born April 22, 1948 in Cozad, Nebraska to Victor and Edith (Winter) Cover. He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1966. Bill married Karen Chittenden in 1971. Together they had 3 sons, Jason, Josh and Matt. Bill farmed the Cover homestead with his brother until he built a Coachman Mobile Home Court east of Cozad in 1981. He eventually went to work for and retired from Dawson County Road Department where he worked for 22 years. He married Audrey Kathol in September of 2004 and moved to rural Lexington in 2005. Bill was involved with politics and attended the Farmers March in Washington D.C. He was a former member and officer of the Cozad Elks Lodge. Music was his passion. He taught himself how to play the guitar and even wrote songs. He played the tuba in high school and in the Alumni Band. Bill was an animal lover, especially his dogs. He loved fishing and camping. Bill loved his family and was very supportive of all the kids in sports and activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Cover. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Cover of Lexington; 3 sons, Jason (Tamara Portner) Cover of Auburn, Josh Cover of Kearney and Matt (Angie) Cover of Cozad; step children, Shannon (Art) Reiser of Lexington and Adam (Megan) Talbott of Lincoln; sisters, Mary Keller of Kearney, Judy (Tom) Maline of Holbrook and Sandy (Milan) Schneider of Gibbon; 7 grandsons, 3 granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and close friends. Memorials can be directed to the family in his name for later designation.  Services will be held Friday, April 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor John Shields officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 3:30 pm to 8 pm at Berryman Funeral Home.
